Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searches the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose (KJV).
What is the counsel of God towards us?
Paul, in his letter in Romans 8:26 says it is the mind of the Spirit.
Certain things may have happened to us and we still think about how they have happened but it was for our good.
If we do not have the endurance and confidence it is because we have not understood that God turns things in our favor.
We know that things may happen. There may be twists and turns in life. Despite the twist and turns in life we should agree with the word of God. We have to come to a point that we are in agreement with the Spirit of God, the mind of God.
How can we boldly say we know that things work together for us? How do we come to that place of assurance in the face of challenges?
We need to stand in our assurance and confidence in God that things will work together for us. Saying it is on the premise and on the fact that the Spirit of the Lord searches the heart of God- so we know.
I know that all things can work together for our good. That is the basis of our confidence. In the aforementioned verse, “we know” implies confidence. It is speaking to our confidence in the will and mind of God. It is also speaking into the agenda and counsel of God, that He is the Father over our life.
We have come to a place of alignment and agreement. We have come to a point where we can boldly say, “nothing can go wrong in my life.”
It is not that nothing is going on in our lives right now. The Bible says God can use it and turn it for His glory.
The only place we can have that assurance and confidence in God is to know that the Spirit of the Lord, the mind of God for all that pertains to us cannot be thwarted.
The Spirit helps our infirmities when we pray. He does that according to the will of God for our lives. It does not matter what is going on and happening in our lives, everything works together for our good.
It does not matter the twist and the turns of life.
The twist and turns of life is a function of supernatural intervention. They can work out the will of God. It can work out the desire of the Father for our lives. It can work it out. It can work out the plan of God in our lives. It does not matter what the devil is doing.
Paul says, “…if.they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory (KJV).
They did not know what the Father was doing. The devil thought that what he was planning was the end of Jesus, whereas, it was the beginning of the agenda and plan of God for humanity.
If they had known they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. This is because they do not know the mind of God. The devil does not have a clear idea of what is in the mind of God.
Most times the devil receives information from man. The devil does not have a clear idea of what the Father’s will is for us.
Job, in the scripture, had given such information to the devil for the devil to have said Job was surrounded by the edge of fire.
Job 1:10 Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
The devil knew by telling God that He was protecting Job. However, Job was not aware that there was an edge of fire surrounding him. If God did not give Job permission, the devil cannot touch him.
This is why sometimes as believers we are the ones giving the devil information. The devil is not all knowing, because he is limited.
The devil does not have the full idea of what God’s plan is concerning us in the power and wisdom of God.
The word of God says, “and we know. ” Even if things are not going as we expect, we can shout together and shout, *and we know!”
Psalm 119 :105
When your feet are ordered your path is maintained. Your feet are ordered by the word of God. It becomes a supernatural intervention for our life that helps to coordinate our steps and actions, our decisions and steps. Once those are guaranteed, your path is guaranteed. Once you miss out your step with a little deviation, a path is altered. It takes so much as just one step.
If the feet are not well ordered our path will be wrong.
However, with the supernatural intervention of God, even when your path is wrong, he can reorder it.
The word of God can be a supernatural tool/ intervention and take a foot back from the wrong path to the right path. God’s word can be a tool and means for supernatural intervention that takes a man away from the wrong path.
Psalms 16:5-11 (KJV) The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
The lines have fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a good heritage.
I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
David boldly said God is the portion of his inheritance with so much confidence. He said his lot is maintained. He kept telling the devil of what God had said despite the odds. But in the midst of the uncertainty, he was still boasting about God.
David’s life was full of trouble but he kept saying it with assurance that God maintains his lot. In the midst of the uncertainty and complexity of his life. He spoke like he knows, he spoke like an assured man.
Night seasons are dark moments, troubled times when you don’t know what to do or where to turn, with darkness everywhere. But the Psalmist said, it may look dark or look like a night season, but he’s always in touch with the heart of God; constantly in tune with the mind and will of God.
It is this assurance that David had in the night season that made him declare “my portion is maintained” “things are fallen for me in pleasant places, I have a goodly heritage.”
This is what the devil wants to touch; your confidence in God. It is not your material things.
What the devil is after most times is not what you have but what gives you what you have. David had assurance even in his night seasons.
“I have set the LORD always before me” means I have focused on the ability of God. David is saying his was heart fixed on what God alone can do, not afraid of what mortal man can do to him. He was saying that it doesn’t not matter the turns and twists of life, his confidence is made in Yahweh. My focus is God, and I have an assurance that he maintains my lot. Even when men are struggling to take my lot away.
Saul was against David, fighting and planning to kill him. However, Jonathan submitted to God’s will of David being king. He had aligned the to the will of God and gave David his full support despite being the heir to the throne. Yet the Father kept fighting.
David kept declaring God and his mighty ways. That is what the devil hates. He hates men who speak about God in Such a manner. He hates to hear you speak boldly about your assurance in God, about what God can do. The devil is angry with the believer that understands and knows what God is doing and has an assurance that God’s word cannot fail over his life.
The devil is angry about the believer that speaks confidently about the word of God, his assurance about the intervention of God in spite of any situation.
Psalms 16
He said therefore knowing that he is assured.
Vs 10
This Psalm was written expressing David’s experiences and it was a prophetic writing as well.
He had an assurance in the plan and in the will of God that whatever he is going through will work out for his good and his lot will surely be maintained.
David was also confident that God will show him the path of life.
This means that regardless of the twists and turns, God will show him the path of life.
This scripture helps us understand that specifically, God intervenes in our situations irrespective of the twist and turns we may experience.
God works in diverse ways. We should see from the perspective that our errors can be used by God in turn to favour us.
We should learn to pray in the spirit as God is praying through us for matters our understanding can’t pick. We should be found yielding to the promptings of the holy Ghost.
God guides us. He instructs us even in our night seasons.
2 Kings 6:1-7
These men had an issue with their space and wanted to expand it, so that was a problem.
They decided to source for beams but to achieve this they went to borrow an axe to carry out the task.
While working on it, the axe head fell into the river. With this, their plans were on the verge of being truncated as the axe head was gone.
Many times, while doing business, we try to expand and the resources we allocated for this reason by chance went down the drain.
When we talk about twists and turns, they are basically sudden unexpected situations and circumstances that are capable of taking us off the track. They have the likelihood of bringing one to a stop.
We need to learn and also get to a point where the situation gets to us rather than God’s ability and capacity. God still intervenes in the affairs of men.
Vs 6
The axe head was brought back and by implications, the project did not stop, their integrity was preserved, the expansion became a realisation.
One supernatural intervention can actually solve a lot of problems. When God steps into a situation of a man he can change and bring to an end the situation.
In Isaiah 40 : 27 – 30, Jacob said my ways are hidden from the Lord. What will make a man say his way is hidden from the Lord? What makes a man speak like this is when a man is overwhelmed with the issues of life, feeling like God does not know what is happening in his life.
In the midst of the twist and turns of life what do you say? What makes people get into that situation is when they try to compare their lifes with others.
But there is good news. God is interested in every detail of your life, the minute detail of your life and that’s why he expresses himself even through the little things when you thought no help will come.
When help comes to you even when you didn’t ask for it, it’s a reminder that God remembers you and he is mindful of you. It’s called tokens of his goodness. He doesn’t need to do that to show he is God, he does it to show that he is God and he is mindful of you, so why do people think that God is not paying attention to them?
Those who wait on God will triumph through life, they walk through life without giving up.
In 2 Corinthians 4, 8, 9 (TPT) scriptures say even though we don’t know what to do, we are not quitting.
In our family we are called conquerors, victors, overcomers. We have no option but to win in life because winning is the only thing that we know.
No matter what you go through in life, hold on to God, hold that assurance that God is mindful of you and wants you to manifest his glory.
It is natural not to like challenges but sometimes we can’t run away from it. It is part of the reality of life. Things will always happen but whatever happens we should have faith that it will work together for our good knowing that God is in the midst of it.
