THE RACE BEFORE US

The Race set before us is a corporate race in our walk in the body of Christ. This can also be applied to every aspect of our lives.

It seems like we have forgotten that there is a race before us as Christians and as saints of God. We didn’t “set” the race before us. We don’t have what it takes to craft or design the race set before us. And there is nothing that can change the race though we might get distracted in the race but the race is set.

In the same manner, there is a race we have discovered to run individually, in the course of competitions, ambitions, unnecessary distractions, we are now running the race that is not set before us and running the race of somebody else.

Also, at the beginning of the year, there were visions, dreams and goals we were running to achieve but some of us have lost the goals and vision we have for ourselves and begin to pursue the things we did not have plans for.

I Corinthians 9:24-26 NKJV

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.”

Hebrews 12:1 clearly told us that there is a race set before us.

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

2 Timothy 2:4-5 NKJV

“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

There is something called the rule of engagement; when it comes to even running the race of our faith in God. It is not in competition or running but we run according to the rules.

The race set before us is divine and the one who set it determines who wins.

In Christianity, No man set the race before us. There is a rule of engagement and the person that sets the rules is the same person that set the race.

Christianity is not something that we do anyhow. Christianity is not what we practise by our own rules or standards. It is not what is trending, popular, convenient, there is a rule of engagement.

There is a rule of engagement. It’s not about what you love or what is convenient. If anyone wants to run the race and receive a reward then you must run well. You must abide by the rules that are set for the race . There is no race without rules.

Christianity seems to be practised without any sense of understanding of the rules. We are not the one that set the race and we can’t also be the one that set the rules. There is “a WAY” that we must run the race, not “ways”.

Scriptures say, there is a way that seemeth right and the end is destruction. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. The only way to run the race set before is to runl through the lens of Christ. When we begin to think that we have many alternatives to life then we are beginning to step out of order.

You can’t do Christianity on your own terms.

Many people give up on their goals and dreams in their personal life because they don’t have a strong reason why they want to accomplish it. There is a tendency that if a man is not disciplined about his personal life it can be transferred to other things in his life. Discipline is key. There is a race set before us that we must run with discipline.

There is a need to have an understanding that everyone may be running the race but not everyone will have a prize.

Modern day innovations do not change the rule of the race. The race for you may be a journey to financial independence, but you get distracted along the way and the race is yet to be completed.

What is the goal you set out for yourself to accomplish in your lifetime?

Everyone will be required to give account of his life on judgement day. When you reflect on your life 10 years from now, you will either be full of regrets or gratitude.

There’s a moment or season in your life that it’s not showmanship or people to like you that you need but rather that you focus on your goals and visions.

You focus  on where God is taking you to; you shouldn’t be tossed to and fro by what people have to say, their testimonies or their posts on social media because it only goes on to show that you are not rooted.

Never allow anyone to influence you to think that you need to live your life in a way and manner that pleases others.

You should enjoy the blessings of God in your life by living the life He has ordained for you. Stay FOCUSED on your goals and visions such that the success of others doesn’t diminish yours.

It’s a race set before us. The race is not to the swift; for time and chance happeneth to them all.

Sometimes the best in school is not the best in life. There’s a race set before you; finish WELL and finish STRONG so that anytime He calls you home He says “well done good and faithful servant”.

Kathryn Khulman said “when I see Jesus I’ll say I tried”.

There’s a way to run the race set before you.

There’s a rule guiding how you run the race and these you’ll have been set by the one who owns the race.

And if you must win then you’d have to play by the rules. Do not be under pressure from anybody’s success.

There are people God brings our way and they are meant to be our brothers. They are called supernatural relationships that God brings to our lives to affect and influence us.

If we do not understand the race, we can’t determine who comes into our circle. As friends we should be comfortable discussing things. Decide who you allow in your circle.

Your actions should be to God and then yourself.

We must understand the season of life and the race set before you.

There are seasons you need to develop yourself.

Invest in yourself!

Don’t be under pressure because others are doing things.  Know your lane.

Be strategic about your race. Sit down with the Lord and ask questions.  Get details around your life. Be specific that the devil does not bring opportunities your way that are traps.
