Romans 3: 24-26, Ephesians 1: 7, Colossians 1: 14, 1 Corinthians 1: 30
Redemption is a big topic for us in the faith. This redemption we are talking about is the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. The Blood of Christ is the cost for our redemption.
Christ became for us the wisdom of God, the righteousness of God, the sanctification of God, and also our redemption.
He that became our redemption, his ability, and capability in such that what he did and became was an eternal one.
Hebrews 9:12 & 15 explains that what he used for our redemption was not the blood of goats or calves but his own blood.
He entered the most holy place once and for all. He did that once and for all and because he has done that once and for all, what became the product of what he did was not an instalment, was not something that will expire, outgrow, or fade away.
The redemption that he carried out for us is an eternal one. That was what he obtained for us; Eternal Redemption.
Therefore, in Christ, we have received redemption and he became our redemption and what he achieved for us through redemption is an eternal one. It became an eternal one because of what was used in accomplishing the work of redemption; The Blood of Jesus.
He said it is not the blood of goats and cows. In the old testament what they were using was the blood of goats and cows. The blood of goats and cows was efficacious. They can only atone for sins but cannot remove sins.
It was a system in which the blood of goats and animals was used. The old covenant captured what to bring. They knew what to bring to the priest for sacrifice. It was God’s ordination. The goat’s blood actually took care of those things. The only limitation was that they were only temporal. It is so cumbersome that when the sin is atoned for and one touches something forbidden, there is a need to give sacrifices to the Lord again.
It is a burden, it does not make provision for something that can last. The blood of goats atoned for their sins. The blood of the goat tried. The blood of the pigeons tried. They could not bring man to that place of rest permanently. They could not go to the priest without having them.
Imagine what the scene should be where the sacrifices were made.
Jesus became the Lamb of God. Jesus stepped out as the sacrificial lamb of God. He died once and for all. He laid down His life once and for all. He shed His blood once and for all. The one is sufficient enough. That one is sufficient enough to carry out redemption. He is actually the redemption. The lamb was not just a redemption. He is the redemption. Jesus made it that he provided redemption. He did not only do this but that He is also the redemption. Who He became for us is not something that should expire but what is forever.
He produced eternal redemption. It was not just redemption. He is our redemption. He will be our priest. The whole priest required the blood of an animal. He became an animal. His blood was shed once and for all. The whole priesthood of men expires but His does not expire.
In the old testament, the priests needed animals , but Jesus has become like an animal. Every priest needs an animal for sacrifice. It is still the same system but different dynamics. Jesus became the Lamb of God. He has become one. We are not supposed to bring one. We do not come with things we come to things.
He became redemption. When we say we are unveiling redemption we are not just unveiling what He did but who did it. Who did it is superior to what He did.
Animals were what the old testament had, a lamb was used. Jesus became the Lamb for us. It is still the same means and method. It is the system of God that something has been sacrificed. The burden was lifted. It was a great task. It was expensive to atone sin. The anger of God would have caught up with many because they are not financially stable to get what is needed to be bought for sacrifice. Inflation does not affect it. He died!
He shed His blood. He paid it once and for all. He did not just do it but became. He became our redemption. He became the wisdom of God. He became our sanctification.
Redemption means to buy back, it is an action of saving or being saved from sin and its consequences. What Jesus did, did not just buy us but freed us. We were purchased and freed. Redemption is not just salvation but freedom from the power of sin, the wages of sin, and its consequences.
Redemption also means the action of gaining or regaining possession of something in exchange for a payment or clearing a debt. God did not pamper, condone, or overlook sin, he punished and dealt with sin. Death was the penalty for sin, someone died and paid for sin. The difference is, who paid?
Somebody became our ransome, sacrificial lamb, propitiation and substitution. These are the words the scriptures used to capture what Jesus did for us. Somebody was beaten and humiliated for our sake. All of that used to be done to the lamb in bible days but that was shifted to the lamb of God and he carried the sin of the whole world.
In the Old Testament, the sinner brings a goat, lays hands on it, and confesses the sin, which transfers the sin from the person to the animal. This was how they got judgement. Even in the Old Testament, God punished sin, but he made a provision that no human being should die for their sins, but the only problem with that provision is that it does not last, it was not a permanent solution, because once a person commits another sin, another animal is brought and blood is shed. This made God and the priests weary because of too much bloodshed. At some point, because of our sinful nature, we were caged and enslaved but later bought back. Full payment was made for our purchase.
The father used his son to pay, who shed his blood and through his blood redemption was offered to mankind, he didn’t just offer redemption he became redemption so that we can go to him anytime, any day, for our redemption. What he achieved was eternal redemption, salvation, and deliverance. It happened once and for all and till Jesus comes it’s still potent.
Redemption also means the act of redeeming, atoning for a fault, mistake, or the state of being redeemed, delivered, and rescued. When a man says he has experienced redemption he means he has been saved and rescued. The payment of Jesus Christ redeemed us. Redemption is a legal term closely associated with the words ransom, atonement, substitution, and deliverance.
We need to understand that God’s buying back means redeeming, reclaiming, atoning; it’s saving, and rescue everyone that comes to him by faith believing in the sacrificial death of His son; that the blood of His son is efficacious and has consequently taken care of all we have and based on that we are redeemed, delivered and rescued.
Redemption is a legal term associated with the word ransome, atonement, substitution and deliverance.
Furthermore theologically Redemption refers to the ultimate saving work of Christ; who came to accomplish our redemption by giving his life in substitution for our’s on the ransomed price.
Therefore, we need to begin to understand and appreciate the fact that redemption is the saving work of Christ; it’s salvation appearing to all mankind.
It is the life of God being demonstrated and manifested; and that life became a ransom , a substitution and atonement for our own lives.
It is an exchange of life however it is imperative because somebody needs to pay for sin and Christ stepped in to pay for it.
And this is what makes him “the just and the justifier”; because this statement ” the just and justifier” rests on his legal rights.
As we keep learning, redemption is unveiled to us and the more we understand and grab it, the more we grow and run with it, the better we do, the better we become. The more we maximize our full potential in Christ, the better we become.
When we get to meet Jesus, sin isn’t the goal at the seat of Christ, sin is judged at the white throne judgement and believers don’t have business with that. Believers will come to where we call the judgement seat of Christ, and what they discuss there is how you have been able to maximize your full potential in Christ, did your life manifest all what redemption offered.
.
You will account for the redemption riches that were made available to you, did you advance the economy of God, and the only way to cause the economy to prosper is that we understand all that he did for us in redemption and manifest that light.
Jesus will weep for some believers because they couldn’t maximize all that redemption gave them. The gospel is not about the preaching of heaven and hell, it is for sons of God to manifest. The preaching of the gospel is about salvation, spiritual growth and maturity of the sons , manifestation of the sonship. These are the things that are available in redemption.
Spiritual growth is a function of how much is unveiled to you. We may be equal in salvation, but not equal in spiritual growth and maturity of sons and manifestation of sonship. What brings about the difference in spiritual growth and maturity of different believers is the understanding of what is made available in redemption, walking with it, appropriating it, applying it, taking advantage of it, doing life with it. We don’t just study the word, we don’t just cram the word of God, we do life with it, we are not just learning but also manifesting life.
The end product of the gospel is realising who you are in Christ, realising what he has made us. For anyone to see the light you are, there must be a full manifestation of your sonship in Christ. God is raising you as a system to bring down the systemic problems of this world.
The essence of the knowledge we have in Christ is that we benefit from it and touch lives with it as well. Having a knowledge that you will be fat and flourishing bringing forth God’s life. Paul emphasised that our inner man does not age, that it is renewed day by day even if the outward is wrinkling as a result of age. At old age, you will still be able to transmit the power of God because it is not about your body but God’s life in you. If we choose to start and end at salvation then we are not maximising redemption.
Salvation of mankind, maturing of the sons and manifestation of sonship is what we have in salvation. What we are able to do with these is what brings Glory to Jesus and also it determines the advancement and economy of this kingdom; which is the ultimate. What we do with all these becomes the gain of heaven. That’s the fruit and profit from the life of Jesus. That is the returns on his investment., The gains for Jesus being sent to the world 8s that what we do with our salvation, maturity and manifestation of our sonship, is the end product of the salvation plan.
We are taught all these so that we can mature. Rapture is not all we were saved for, the main goal is that Jesus is glorified while we are here. Saints are edified and the son glorified. We have eternal life that’s why we are assured of salvation.
