Rom 4: 17-21
In this scripture, at the time it was spoken, it has not taken place, it was a declaration of the intention of God. God was speaking to Abraham and at that time the reality of that statement had not come to pass.
God was declaring his intention, what he had in mind. So it is more of a promise and more of a prophecy.
In time like this when people wait on God, he reveals his mind to us either by dreams, prophecies, promises, word of declaration, promises from the scripture (what the bible call the comfort of the scripture), it begins to come to us and everyone begins to learn how to run with God’s word.
God has something to say and he is saying it, either by his word, prophets, scriptures or prophecy. The question now will be “Do you have faith to run with that which God has to say or what God is saying? ”.
In the text we read, the bible was speaking about Abraham and God was the one declaring that he has made him father of many nations. And at the time when the prophecy or promise was declared, Abraham was not a father (not even a father of a child not to talk about the father of a nation).
That was a declaration of the things to come, what God desires to do. Romans 4:21
‘what he had promised, he was also able to perform.’
So when it comes to the performance of the prophecies or performance of the promises of God, he that promises is also able to perform. And since he promises and he is able to perform, do we have what it takes to run with the prophecy?
Greater is the testimony of a child of God. Better days ahead. The things God has in stock for us are better. Every child of God should have this understanding in any month of the year and at all times. It’s not about a period it is about his promises, the scriptures and prophecies.
It is about what we have come to know about the character of our father. On the premise of this, can we come to a place of full persuasion. Just as Abraham was fully persuaded that he that promised was able to perform.
There is a persuasion of the promises and prophecies of him that promised. We know his performance, we know his character.
Abraham knew that he who promised could perform, he was fully persuaded. He was persuaded of the miracles. That which the father has spoken.
We should have faith for what God has in stock for us.
We are better with faith and hope than hopelessness.
If we don’t have hope and faith, it’s an undoing.
We are better off in persuasion with God’s ability. Abraham was not weak in faith. It was recorded that he was strong in faith.
Romans 4: 19-20
How will you tell if a man is strong in faith.., he was giving glory to God knowing that he who promised is able. When you see a man display his deep gratitude in faith, he knows that he who promised is able to perform.
For you not to be weak in faith you will judge he who promised faithful. Abraham never considered his physical condition. He didn’t look at his body or Sarah’s womb that was dead.
He considered not his state. If we want to look at everything around us, we would lose faith. Never allow your faith be attacked. Do not consider or focus on those things that are not working.
They’d deflate your faith. If you want to bike and run with your faith, then focus on what God is doing. This will build up your faith.
As you do that, your faith is built. That was the strategy Abraham used to make his Faith Strong.
He didn’t pay attention to the challenges. His focus was on him that promised and is also able to perform. Man is limited. The only one that has the capacity to do is God. Abraham knowing God is able, he was fully persuaded.
Abraham has come to the full persuasion that as He has promised, He also has the power to bring it to pass.
How has God come through for you over the years? When you have a deadline and timeline? What about the times where you do not have place to turn
You should remember when He showed up for you. When the sickness and that it seems it is the end of your journey, and in the midst of that help came.
Let your focus be on God. He has plans for you.
It look small but you must be grateful. These are the things that give us persuasion and that He is mindful of us.
This is why we should focus on what we should have. When one area of our lives is challenged we should not say God is not good.
Because of that one area of your life you should not call God a liar. Persuasion is not built that way. He is a good God.
I judge Him faithful.
Romans 4:18-21 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform (KJV).
Abraham did not consider his body. He was persuaded that He who has promised is able.
Prophecy can be very powerful, but if there is no boldness to run with it, the prophecy will end in emptiness.
He that promised is not just faithful. He is able to perform. Life is not about prophecies. It is about the way you run with it. We tend to be excited about all that we have been told at the beginning of the year but as the year sets in we begin to lose focus.
Hebrews 11 helped us see that everything faith exercised by the Patriarchs was followed by action. By Faith Abel Offered, Enoch was translated, Sarah Judged God faithful, and so on.
Our faith must have a direction. Faith is not talk. When we go through the book of Hebrew, we should see how the heroes of faith took action.
