Christ and His Lordship
Matthew 1:16,21
Many of us have not realized that Christ is not his surname. The angel that came to announce his birth informed them that his name would be Jesus. The term “Jesus” signifies “Savior.” His name was given, and his purpose was swiftly assigned .”…For he will save his people from their sins.” Jesus was not born a savior; he was born to be a savior.
He became a savior on the cross. According to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus was a healer. He had the authority to forgive sins, but he didn’t die for them. He forgave sin but did not save them from it. His mission began when he gave his life on the cross.
His bloodshed was what resulted in the forgiveness of sin. Sin cannot be forgiven without the blood being shed. A man’s name speaks volumes about who he is; we name our children based on our experiences or what we believe God will accomplish in their lives. When the angel came to announce his birth, they came with a name.
Acts 2:36 KJV “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
This verse helps us comprehend that we are not talking about a different Jesus; we are talking about the same Jesus, the one the angel came to announce and told us that his father chose the name “Jesus.” God made the same Jesus who was born and crucified as both Lord and Christ. He was born Jesus, but he became Christ and Lord.
This is very fundamental to your faith and understanding of Christianity. He was born Jesus, but his father made him Lord and Christ. Christ isn’t Jesus’ surname. Christ is not Jesus’ surname. Christ is an assignment, a posture, and a body of knowledge. So the Jesus who was born is not the same as the Jesus who was glorified. The Jesus who walked the streets of Jerusalem was not the same as the Jesus who resurrected from the grave. The Lord, who is also Christ, is the one who resurrected from the grave. He has been proclaimed Lord and Christ; he was not made Jesus, he was born Jesus. As we continue to learn about Christ, we must recognize that, in addition to knowledge of Christ, doctrine of knowledge, and the body of Christ, he is also Lord.
Many people have come to know Christ but are yet to submit to His Lordship. We have folks who are interested in learning about Christ, but they are not yet aligned. The word lord refers to a master who has authority and dominion.
Philippians 2:11 KJV “and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Knowing and learning about Christ is not sufficient; the Bible teaches that submitting to Jesus’ lordship brings glory to God the Father. It is not simply shouting “JESUS IS LORD,” but there is a place to acknowledge him as Christ and Lord.
Luke 6:46
The proof of lordship is submission.
Many of us have not fully come under the submission of his Lordship; they are yet to understand the concept of Lordship. You know him as Savior, and you are still learning about him as Christ, but the aspect of his Lordship is still a debate. A lot of people still struggle with it.
That is why many powerful preachers are still struggling as parents, because they are learning about Christ but are yet to submit to His Lordship. We should not only learn about Christ, but also submit to His Lordship.
We should not just learn Christ but also submit to his Lordship.
You can’t know him as Christ and not submit to his Lordship. Learning and submission go together. We have a generation of people who are learning, but a good life is not produced in them just because they are learning and not submitting to the life they are learning.
It is not sufficient to confess Jesus as Lord; we must submit to his Lordship.
On what platform was Jesus made Lord?
On the platform that he died, was buried, and rose again. At that point, people began referring to him as Jesus Christ.
It was prophesied that he would become Christ. Christ means to the Messiah, the anointed one.
Jesus is made both Lord and Christ.
Romans 14:9 For to this end Christ both died and rose and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
This is how Jesus became Christ: He died, was buried, and rose again. The essence of that is that He might be made Lord. The essence of that is that He might be Lord both of the dead and the living. The issue of His Lordship is not a title. It is not a nickname. It is not about the name, Jesus. It is a stature. He stepped into a prophecy. It was via obedience, by laying down His life. This was all part of the process of Him becoming Lord. There is no way we would talk about Jesus Christ, and not talk about His Lordship.
We read Genesis to Revelation and exegetically say there was Christ hidden and revealed. We cannot talk about Jesus without mentioning His Lordship. We see Him glorified. We can talk about Him being crucified and risen from the grave, but the primary thing is His Lordship. We can’t take one and leave the rest. We must accept His Lordship. If He must be Lord, then He must be Christ.
If He is Christ, He must be the Lord. He cannot be Christ and not Lord. We cannot be outspoken about Him being Christ and Christocentric in our beliefs, and we do not surrender to His Lordship. We must grasp the concept of Christ and His Lordship. The submitted church is a church that is in alignment and obedient to Christ. When we say Christ, we are referring to His body. An average believer would state that he or she understands Christ personally. As a church we do not have an opinion. If it is not Christ, then it is nothing. As a church we must submit to Christ. Christ is the head of the Church. He is the master. This is why churches should not be founded on men’s visions. Churches are established to follow the details of the Lord. If He is not Lord, He is not Lord at all. Is He Lord over your anger? Is He Lord over your emotion? A man can preach in the power of the Lord, and when he’s done, he becomes angry about some things. A man can be so active in the service, yet he is quick to be angry towards his wife. This is why we must submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It’s not about understanding Greek terms. Despite the fact that many genuinely saved people have not come under the Lordship of Jesus. They don’t know the Lord. IIf we are learning about Him, we must submit to Him. He is our Saviour. We must be in submission to the Lord. We can see in that version that He said, “Why do you say, ‘Lord, Sir, Lord, Sir,’ and do not do what I tell you to do?”
There will be better husbands, wives, and children by submitting to His Lordship. The issue of His Lordship is a critical matter. Learning Christ is beyond that He was born. We must see this in the doctrine of Christ. We need to understand why He came and took on the form of Christ. Learning, seeing, and embodying the full character of God is one of the purposes for which Christ came. It’s simply an analogy for not reading through a lamp.
However, there are true and brighter lights that can help us see better. Therefore, the purpose of Christ’s coming was to make God more clearly and better known. He came to demonstrate to us God’s consistency. Christ’s mission was to make God and God’s character known on earth. As we understand Christ, we should also learn to submit to his Lordship so that we do not simply know him but are unable to do what he says.
We should not be overburdened with knowledge, and even when we pray, we still hold grudges against others, but the Lord did not point this out. Then it is either your Christianity is fake or you have not learned about him properly.
You should not have so much knowledge that you are heartless enough to mistreat your partner. Knowing the Greek and Hebrew meanings of scripture does not supersede knowing how to say “sorry” or “thank you” to your spouse..
Where is The Lord’s compassion? Where is the Lord’s gentleness and meekness? The Lord conquers us. He takes control of our lives. He overcomes our inadequacies. He rules. Your opinion is not important. You continue to count and reference offences. The same process that made Christ made him into Lord. Down at his feet you should lay it all. It is possible to be a spirit-filled husband and be unruly towards your spouse and children. You can build capacity in your knowledge of Christ and allow him to be Lord of your heart.
