Hebrews 10:1-21
The law had a shadow of things to come and not the very image of these things. That’s not the real image of what the father wants to establish.
The weakness of the law is that it was done yearly and continually. Despite that, it doesn’t make people perfect, and it does not take away their sins.
Hebrews 7:11-28
Jesus is your high priest and his priesthood is unchangeable because he liveth forever.
The administration of the blood didn’t start from Jesus’s death, it was God that ordained it. Moses didn’t have the power to come up with those ideas and give men the prescription of what they would need to offer for atonement. God was so detailed about it as it contained the provision of atonement.
You must understand where you’re coming from for you to understand what you have now. You must appreciate and understand what fully brought your salvation.
God put in place the provision of sacrifices, though it became cumbersome and he became tired of seeing blood. The effect of the sacrifices and provision too was another concern, it can not take away sin, it just covers it. Atonement is covering. The trouble here is after you bring the sacrifice, there are many laws guiding it; for instance, going back after a sacrifice, your body must not touch a dead thing.
If you understand and appreciate the salvation that God has given to you, how he saved you, what he saved you with and how effective what he did for you is, then you must understand this. God abolished that because it was weak and unprofitable. It was weak because it was needed daily, the priesthood was carrying too much burden and it didn’t make men perfect. God had a picture of a perfect image.
So, the first needed to go for the second to be established. The first was the blood of lambs and goats, it can only atone, it can not take away.
The second was God bringing a once and for all solution, once and for all is the operation of God in his son. What God accomplished with his son for us.
The issue of salvation being said it’s forever goes beyond what you can do, it is what God has done that is forever. Once and for all is not about your attitude, it’s what the Father did in Christ. It’s once and for all because they offered the blood of goats continually but despite the offering and provision of such it still did not take away sin. The Bible said anytime they bring the sacrifice for the sin, it brings to them the consciousness of sin. What the father intended to do was still not accomplished with that system so that system needed to be disannulled.
So the second was inaugurated and the second now is the son. An animal was required for the first and Jesus also became the lamb of God. After John the Baptist baptized Jesus and saw Jesus coming the second day, the Holy Ghost came upon him and he was speaking by the spirit of Christ in him, he said “ Behold the lamb” John was trying to help us shift our focus from goats which means we will no longer be sacrificing goats and lamb, this will be the only lamb.
What God did through John at that time was to shift the focus even though they didn’t fully understand. It was a shift in understanding and focus.
The first brought shadows, all of that was an attempt to see God. The real thing is here now, there’s a new way. The other way is death, the new way is alive, living.
The old way doesn’t perfect the image of God in us and the big deal is that the image of Christ be formed and perfected in us.
The second came to do the will of God, to enact the new order. Everything with the first is gone. The new way is Jesus. The Bible saying “ Jesus is the way, the truth and the life” is not talking about three things, it’s one thing; He is the way, the way is the truth and in truth is life.
Jesus is the new way to God and the way to get this new way is learning the truth and in learning the truth is life.
The fundamental reason why people don’t value what they have in salvation is because they don’t even understand the things they have so they can’t appreciate it. The person who made the salvation available is saying His priesthood can never be changed, it’s on that ground we speak when we speak about what God has done for us. When we speak like that we are agreeing with what God has done and accomplished in his son. We have believed in the gospel. Believing the gospel is called the simplicity of the gospel, it doesn’t make sense it makes faith.
Philippians 3:15
[15] Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.
Have an open mind, God will yet bring clarity. Have the attitude of a learner, a life-long learner. Certain things will shake your foundation and things will be uprooted.
The strength of this is that you operate by the order of the One that His priesthood cannot be changed.
